A conscientious family-owned company with five generations of building heritage, Edgefold Homes is always keen to share skills, knowledge and experience across the industry.
As such, the team were delighted to welcome student Vanessa Azavedo for a month of work shadowing and mentoring earlier this year.
A Graduate of Newcastle University, Vanessa already has a degree in Urban Planning and has since moved on to Manchester University to tackle a Masters in Asset Management with RICS accreditation.
Jack Seddon, Construction Director at Edgefold Homes said:
“It was a pleasure to have Vanessa with us over the summer. Her enthusiasm and desire to learn meant that she fit right in with the team.
“We each spent some time explaining our roles within the organisation and she was able to shadow someone in each department to get a broader understanding of property development. Exploring the different areas of the business and learning from Edgefold employees with various specialisms meant that she was able to get a good foundation of knowledge across the board.
“Vanessa has a bright career ahead of her and we hope we’ve helped play a part in her future success.”
Vanessa added:
“I thoroughly enjoyed my time with Edgefold Homes. The team couldn’t have done more to help and make me feel welcome, answering any questions I had and sharing their extensive knowledge.
Throughout the summer I shadowed someone in each sector within the company, ranging from Quantity Surveyors to Property Development experts. Each day spent in the specific sector helped to grow my knowledge of what a job within that role would require and the plethora of real estate knowledge which comes with it.
“I’m grateful the team were kind enough to give me this opportunity, and I think the experience will certainly help further my career in real estate.”
