Bringing Empty Spaces to Life at Eccleston Green

One of the biggest challenges when buying a new-build home is visualising how an empty space can become a warm, inviting family home.

At Edgefold Homes, we understand that, which is why we recently undertook an Interior Design Placement exercise at our Eccleston Green development.

Rather than a fully commissioned showhome, this exercise focused on furnishing one of our “standard-sized” homes with real, family-friendly furniture. The results? A house that immediately felt like home – even without designer wallpaper or window dressings.

Empty spaces can sometimes seem deceivingly small, and it’s hard to picture how your own furniture and lifestyle would fit in. By adding thoughtful, practical furnishings, we’ve brought this home to life and given buyers a true sense of its potential.

Here’s what we added:

  • Breakfast bar stools
  • Full-sized dining table with four large, comfy chairs
  • Console tables and ladder furniture
  • Large sideboards
  • Lounge seating for up to 9 people
  • Side tables and coffee tables – enough for everyone’s drinks
  • A king-size feature bed with side tables and oversized lamps

The transformation was incredible and the impact was immediate.

Our Sales Manager, Kirstie Woolley, explains why this approach works so well:

“As a builder who focuses on smaller developments, it’s not always possible to have a fully commissioned show home. But an empty home can feel disjointed and confusing. By furnishing or partially furnishing a stock plot, buyers are more likely to associate the house with their lifestyle and needs. The biggest misconception is people’s perception of space, especially in bedrooms, which is why we showcased a king-size bed with plenty of room for bedside tables and fitted wardrobes.

“The response to this home at Eccleston Green has been phenomenal and sales have soared as buyers can now truly visualise the space and imagine their lives here. This success means Interior Design Placement is something we’ll definitely consider on future smaller developments.”
